From Trinidad to Cuba, no matter what style of tropical music you are interested in, we can accommodate with our diverse and expansive repertoire of songs and styles. Whether as a solo act or full band, our professionalism and musicality are second-to-none, providing the perfect atmosphere for your next event. The Music City Steel Band is comprised of a seasoned group of musicians that have been performing professionally in the Nashville, TN area for over 20+ years. With a vast knowledge of World Percussion and Caribbean Music, you can rest assured that this group will deliver an outstanding and entertaining performance; no matter what the venue. Whether it is music at a reception or a corporate fundraiser, or combining education and entertainment for kids and senior adults, the Music City Steel Band is ready to put together a great performance fitted specifically for your event!
What We Offer
Each event is unique and tailored for your needs. One of the most often asked questions is "What size of group do I need for my event?" Obviously budget is the biggest factor that determines the size of the band, but you also want to consider what type of 'vibe' you want the music to offer. Is it a cocktail party and you'd just like some 'atmosphere' or background music? Then a solo performance or a duo or trio would be your best bet. Are you looking for more lively music where your guests might dance, or would prefer more of a "show?" Then a Quartet or bigger might be the best option. Typically our group is instrumental and does not include vocals. If you'd prefer to have a singer, we can add that as well. Request this in the booking process and we can discuss options.
Solo Performance - typically one Steelpan player usually accompanied with backing tracks
Duo - Two Steelpan players. Backing tracks can be added to enhance the performance.
Trio - Two Steelpan players and a Percussionist. Volume can range from super soft (allowing people to converse at your party) to a more 'energetic' vibe if required
Quartet - Two Steelpan players, Bass Guitar, and Drumset. This is our best "full sounding" version of the group. Because we are professionals, we can play softly during a dinner or cocktail hour, providing background music OR fill a large room with energetic music for concerts and receptions. There are a lot of options for this group.
Vocals and Extra Steel Drums and Instruments can be added, as needed, to any of the previous group configurations. Inquire during the booking process.

The Music City Steel Band offers a very diverse and expansive catalog of music that can fit any type of event. Whether you are looking for some up-tempo and energetic Soca & Calypso, or classical music for a Wedding or Society event, we can cover it. More than likely your popular song requests are in our book, but we have been known to learn songs specifically for special events when requested. Be sure to remark about any special needs for an event when booking and ask for a sample song list.
Our love for the Steelpan instrument and it's homeland Trinidad & Tobago means that we know and perform quite a bit of popular "standards" of Calypso, written by many great Calypsonians over the years. Many of these songs you might know, as they were made popular by artists like Harry Belafonte. Even artists like Jimmy Buffet have brought some of this music and artform into the mainstream. Also in our repertoire are many Reggae tunes by the great Bob Marley and other Jamaican artists. "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay," "Boardwalk," "Here Comes the Sun," and "I Can See Clearly Now" are a few examples of many Top 40 hits throughout the years that we perform on the instrument. As mentioned before, we have provided Wedding music multiple times, performing "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," "Canon in D," and many other typical classical pieces. We even perform Christmas Music!! Yes you read that right! What better way to add a unique flair to your Holiday parties than to have our band perform classic Christmas music with an "Island" twist. It will have your guests talking about it well after the event has ended!
